Ngakso is the abbreviation for Ngak kyi so jong, which means “mending (faults) by means of mantra.” Drubchen means “great accomplishment” .
Drupchen , a traditional form of meditation retreat in Tibetan Buddhism , is a gathering of male and female practitioners in a holy place led by a high Lama ( a Vajra Master ) within a divine mandala which is performed continuously for 24 hours a day for several days (commonly 9 days). The participants generally practise during the day sessions and take shifts during the night sessions so that there would be a never-ending flow of mantra recitation and meditative practice throughout.
It Is regarded as a very powerful practice and has been described by many great masters who have fully participated in a Drupchen puja with one’s body, speech, and mind. This brings the same blessings and may produce the same benefit as practicing alone for a three-year retreat. Also said to act as a remedy to the negative forces at work in the world, and to promote inner personal peace, peace within the community and world peace.
This tantric Ngakso sadhana is a terma, or hidden treasure, concealed in Tibet by Guru Rinpoche, and rediscovered centuries later by the incarnated great treasure-finder, Terchen Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa.
This sadhana practice is especially effective for restoring broken samaya (spiritual pledges), strengthening the bond between student and spiritual teacher, and dispelling obstacles in the bardo state for those who have recently passed away.
The merits accrued from this vast accomplishment shall remove outer, inner and secret obstacles and such blessings that may remain for months, years and even many life times. One may dedicate the merits to those in need, like the sick, the recently deceased or anyone currently encountering difficulties regardless of their circumstances.
